Information we collect

• Content you create or upload, including notes, documents, audio, images, tasks, and generated study materials.
• Usage information needed to provide app features, subscriptions, limits, diagnostics, and support.
• Device and app information such as app version, platform, crash logs, and performance data.

• To provide, personalize, sync, and improve app features.
• To process documents, audio, handwriting, text recognition, summaries, and AI-assisted study tools.
• To manage authentication, subscriptions, payments, usage limits, and support requests.
• To protect the app from abuse, fraud, security issues, and technical problems.

How we share, transfer, or disclose information

We may share, transfer, or disclose your information to third-party service providers only as needed to operate Student Notebook AI and provide its features.

• Google services (including Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Firebase App Check, Crashlytics, Google Sign-In, Google AdMob, and Vertex AI) may process account data, diagnostics, and content required to provide app functionality.
• AI service providers may process content you submit when using AI-powered features.
• Payment, analytics, notification, and support providers may process limited data necessary for their specific services.

AI services and data processing

Student Notebook AI uses third-party AI providers to power various features. We do not operate our own AI models. When you use AI features, your input (such as text, images, audio, or documents) may be sent to the selected provider for processing.

AI providers used include:

• Google Gemini (via Firebase AI / Vertex AI)
• OpenAI (ChatGPT)
• Anthropic (Claude)
• xAI (Grok)
• DeepSeek
• Mistral AI
• Perplexity AI

These providers receive only the data necessary to generate responses. We do not send your email address, account identifiers, or direct personal identity information to these AI providers.

As a result, AI providers cannot directly identify you as an individual user based on requests made through the app.

Feature-specific data handling

Text recognition (OCR)

Student Notebook AI provides multiple OCR processing options:

• On-device OCR: Processing occurs entirely on your device. No data is transmitted externally.
• Cloud Vision OCR: Images are securely transmitted to Google Cloud Vision for processing.
• Mistral AI OCR: Images are transmitted to Mistral AI for text extraction and processing.

PDF analysis

PDF processing and analysis features are powered by Google Firebase AI / Vertex AI. Uploaded PDF content is transmitted securely to these services for processing.

Audio transcription

Audio transcription is performed using Google Gemini Flash Speech-to-Text (STT). Audio recordings are transmitted securely to this service for transcription.

Notes and local writing

Notes created within the app (such as handwritten or typed notes stored locally) are processed and stored on-device. These notes are not shared with AI providers unless you explicitly use an AI feature on that content.

Third-party services

Student Notebook AI uses trusted third-party services for hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, ads, subscriptions, payments, AI processing, storage, notifications, and support. These services process data in accordance with their own policies.

Advertising

The free version of the app may show ads via Google AdMob. Advertising partners may use device identifiers and app activity to deliver and measure ads, subject to your consent and device settings.

Data retention

We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.

Your choices

• You can update or delete content within the app.
• You can delete your account and associated data through the app or request deletion via our website.
• You can manage permissions and ad personalization through your device settings.

Children

If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. Updates will be reflected with a revised date.
